Thursday, November 17, 2011. Put that date on your calendar – it’s the date of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) annual charity auction in support of the CHML/Y108 Children’s Fund.

For 23 years, our association has been hosting a charity auction for this great cause. It’s an evening of silent and live auctions, entertainment, great food and fun, all for the benefit of children in and around the Hamilton and Burlington area.

This is the auction that has a bit of everything. Already we have donations of gift baskets, jewellery, services, gift certificates, sports tickets and merchandise, getaways, electronics, small appliances, home décor items, artwork, giftware and an all-inclusive trip for two, and more donations keep coming in every day.

The members of our association are big supporters of this charity auction, and they have established a wide network of businesses and individuals who also support us every year. Last year we raised over $54,000 for the Children’s Fund, and this year we are aiming higher.

The annual charity auction is open to the public. Tickets are $20 each and give you entry into an event that includes an evening’s entertainment, food, and a chance to buy something wonderful for yourself or to give as a gift. Tickets are available through the RAHB office at 505 York Blvd or by calling 905.529.8101, x234 and speaking with Sheila.

The charity auction is not the only way in which RAHB and its members support community causes. Earlier this year, three teams of dragon boat paddlers participated in the Hamilton Waterfront Festival dragon boat races and raised over $6,800 for the Bay Area Restoration Council. Our annual golf tournament raised over $15,000 for RAHB’s scholarship fund and Home Ownership Affordability Partnership. Our Adopt-a-School program encourages members to volunteer in local schools’ student nutrition programs.

Our members – REALTORS® – are very much a part of the communities in which they live and work. Individually, REALTORS® support their favourite charities, coach sports teams, are active in their places of worship, run for political office, drive for the Red Cross, participate on community Boards, deliver meals, give blood, work in schools, fundraise for various charities and much, much more. REALTORS® believe in giving back to their communities.

As an association, the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington has adopted a “Quality of Life” philosophy that is focused on building better communities. It just makes sense: we live, work and play in the same communities as everyone else. We are proud to be REALTORS® working in and serving our communities. We can all work together to make our communities the kinds of places we are proud to live in.
