RAHB Winter Wonders

On December 20, 2022, over 500 RAHB members, their families, clients and special guests celebrated the magic of the season together at Winter Wonders at the Royal Botanical Gardens. The scenic pathways with interactive light displays were the perfect backdrop to connect with each other, enjoy some beverages and warm up by the fire. 

RAHB’s Second Annual Walk-a-thon

RAHB’s Second Annual Walk-a-thon in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada took place from September 1 to 30th. Our 49 walkers raised a whopping total of $36,950 and walked a total of 3,246 kilometres!

Thank you to all our walkers and everyone who supported the event. Together, we are making a lasting impact on our local communities, and we truly couldn’t have done this without your support. 

RAHB 2022 Open House

RAHB kicked off their first in-person event since 2020 with our open house in July 2022. 

Members came by the newly renovated RAHB office to take part in good conversation, enjoy some snacks from the food tracks and take part in our photo area, putting greens, and a scavenger hunt! 

CREA PAC Days

The major focus for participation in federal affairs is PAC Days. This event, held annually on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, allows REALTORS® to speak directly to Members of Parliament about issues that affect homeowners and the real estate industry.

RAHB Network 9 & Dine

Network, 9 & Dine took place on Thursday, May 23 at the beautiful Heron Point Golf Links. We were happy that the weather was on our side and over 100 golfers were able to enjoy nine holes of golf! All golfers were then treated to a delicious BBQ dinner put on by the wonderful staff at Heron Point.

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton can bring the community together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Homeownership is central to REALTORS® and is one of our community pillars at RAHB – it is what we do every day. Collectively, RAHB has come together to donate $77,526.68  that will have a significant impact on our Hamilton community and future Habitat homeowners.

REALTORS® 4Kids Charity Auction

RAHB raised $87,500 for the 900CHML/Y108/Energy 953 Children’s Fund through an Auction, which was held for its 31st year.

The Children’s Fund offers assistance to over 40 different charities each year. During the last 31 years of partnership, the REALTORS® 4 Kids Charity Auction has raised $1.15 million making RAHB the Children’s Fund’s single largest contributor.

Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga

Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga can bring the community together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership. Homeownership is central to REALTORS® and is one of our community pillars at RAHB – it is what we do every day. Collectively, RAHB has come together to donate $38,763.35  that will have a significant impact on our Burlington community and future Habitat homeowners.

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton – Build Day

On August 15, members of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington participated in a Build Day with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton in conjunction with the over $77,000 donation made. During the Build Day, the volunteers from RAHB help to build some outdoor features. The Build Day was extremely rewarding as the volunteers got to see firsthand what it takes to build a Habitat Home. Although the volunteers primarily worked on only one of the homes, there were two others on site. These three homes at 10 Dennis Ave in Waterdown will provide stable and affordable housing to three families.

Habitat for Humanity Home Build Celebration

On August 23, RAHB President Bob Van de Vrande was invited to speak at the Hamilton Habitat for Humanity Home Build Celebration. RAHB, through the Home Ownership Affordability Program (HOAP), donated over $77,000 to the Habitat Hamilton project in Waterdown.

Additionally, Van de Vrande was asked to take part in the key presentation ceremony, where he was able to give the home keys to a new Habitat homeowner.

Community Open Forums

RAHB Open Forums are informal, two-way information events, combined with great networking opportunities. A RAHB Open Forum is a great way to discuss with fellow RAHB members who often live/work in the community where the Open Forum is held what matters to you over a light continental breakfast.

On September 17, at the Burlington Open Forum, Mayor Marianne Meed Ward spoke to attendees about the work that City Hall is doing to continue to make Burlington the #1 community in Canada.

ProDev+ (Professional Development Plus)

ProDev+ is a one-day education event where REALTORS® come to learn about hot industry topics. ProDev+ offers a range of professional development opportunities, a trade show with both new and familiar vendors and an afternoon Networking Interactive Zone where REALTORS® can kick back and network with their colleagues and exhibitors.

Municipal Advocacy

An important part of RAHB’s mission is to engage in municipal advocacy within our market areas of Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara North and Haldimand County. RAHB strives to meet and engage in thoughtful conversations regarding housing and real estate-related issues with elected officials and city staffers.

In the picture is RAHB members with Mayor Jeff Jordan of Grimsby at the Grimsby’s Mayor Breakfast where we learned more about the future of economic development in Grimsby.

City Manager’s Breakfast 2019

RAHB members attending the 2019 City Manager’s Breakfast that featured a presentation from Hamilton’s newly appointed City Manager, Janette Smith. At the event, Janette Smith spoke about the importance of affordable housing for first-time home buyers, seniors, as well as, the Hamilton community as Hamilton continues to grow.

We look forward to working with Janette Smith in the future to help make Hamilton even stronger!

Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga – Build Day

On October 30, members of the REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington participated in a Build Day with Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga in conjunction with the over $38,000 donation made. During the Build Day, the volunteers from RAHB help to cut and place drywall into some of the townhomes on the site. The Build Day was extremely rewarding as the volunteers got to see firsthand what it takes to build a Habitat Home. Although the volunteers only worked on a few of the hometown homes, there were over 15 townhomes on the Habitat Build Site! These beautiful townhomes are at 2384 Queensway Drive in Burlington and will provide stable and affordable housing to many families.

Habitat for Humanity Hamilton  – Build Day

On November 8, RAHB members volunteered to participate in a second Build Day with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton. During the Build Day, RAHB volunteers worked together to build a fence that helped to reduce sound coming from Highway 5. RAHB members really enjoy participating in Build Days because not only are they helping to create more affordable housing, they are also learning valuable knowledge on construction that they can relay to their clients.

Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga 20th Anniversary Celebration

On November 21, RAHB was invited to attend Habitat for Humanity Halton-Mississauga’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. It was a wonderful night celebrating the work that Habitat Halton-Mississauga has done for the community over the past 20 years. As well, the wonderful volunteers and community partners who have helped along the way.

Burlington Mayor’s State of the City Address

On January 30, 2020, RAHB attended the Burlington Mayor’s State of the City Address — which RAHB was a sponsor. RAHB President Kathy Della-Nebbia had the pleasure to introduce Mayor Marianne Meed Ward.
