Where can you go for an evening of fun, entertainment and great food and all for a good cause? On November 22, you can join us at Michelangelo’s Event Venue and Conference Centre for the annual REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington (RAHB) Charity Auction.

REALTORS®, their clients and friends come together to help give a child a Christmas. For 24 years, RAHB has worked with the good folks at CHML900 and Y108 to support their Children’s Fund, more popularly known as the Christmas Tree of Hope. This charity helps children’s causes around the Hamilton/Burlington area and has recently taken on distribution of toys for Operation Santa Clause.

The auction has a bit of everything for everyone’s tastes. In the silent and live auctions are gift baskets, jewellery, services, gift certificates, sports tickets and merchandise, getaways, electronics, small appliances, home décor items, artwork, giftware and more … the list goes on and gets longer every day.

The RAHB Charity Auction is not just for REALTORS®; it is open to the public and we encourage you to attend. Tickets are $20 each for entry into an event that includes an evening of entertainment with a live band as well as a DJ, food, and a chance to buy something for yourself or to give as a gift. Tickets are available through the RAHB office at 505 York Blvd. or by contacting Sheila at 905.529.8101, x234.

The Charity Auction is our Association’s biggest charitable event but it is only one of several ways REALTORS® and RAHB support the community. Earlier this year we, with our partners in the Home Ownership Affordability Partnership (HOAP), completed our eleventh HOAP house project that helped a family attain the dream of home ownership. A team of dragon boat paddlers participated in the Hamilton Waterfront Festival dragon boat races and raised $1000 for the Bay Area Restoration Council. Two teams of RAHB peddlers participated in the Heart & Stroke Big Bike Ride and raised over $5,700 for that organization. Our annual golf tournament raised over $16,000 for RAHB’s scholarship fund and Home Ownership Affordability Partnership (HOAP).

Our members – REALTORS® – are very much part of the communities in which they live and work. They participate in activities like the Big Bike Ride or the RAHB golf tournament, and also individually support their favourite charities, coach sports teams, are active in their places of worship, run for political office, drive for the Red Cross, participate on community Boards, deliver meals, give blood, volunteer in schools, fundraise for various charities and much, much more. REALTORS® believe in giving back to their communities.

The REALTORS® Association of Hamilton-Burlington has adopted a “Quality of Life” philosophy which is focused on building better communities. It makes sense: we all live, work and play in the same communities. We can all work together to make our communities places we take pride in.
