The 29th annual REALTORS®4Kids Charity Auction in support of the Children’s Fund takes place Thursday November 16, 2017 at Michelangelo’s Banquet Centre! We sat down with our two Charity Auction Task Force Co-Chairs, Brian Shaw and Aileen Araujo, to get the full details on this fun REALTOR® holiday tradition.

What inspired you to become involved with the RAHB Charity Auction Task Force?

Aileen: “My inspiration for becoming involved in the REALTORS®4Kids Charity Auction has always been the chance to give back to the community. As a mother, I feel compelled to help in any way I can to give back to children in need.”

Brian: “All funds raised at the REALTORS®4Kids Charity Auction are donated to the Children’s Fund — a locally-based charity that supports over 40 children’s programs within Hamilton-Burlington. I feel honoured to participate in an event that positively impacts a charity that supports the health, development and well-being of children in our community.”

Why should someone attend the REALTORS®4Kids Charity Auction?

Brian: “Everyone needs a night on the town surrounded by friends and fun! It’s an opportunity to dress-up, network and catch-up with people you may not have seen in awhile. Michelangelo’s provides us with a beautiful venue and a delicious four-course meal. There is a silent and live auction where you will surely find a treasure to bid on. Lastly, you can take pride in knowing that the funds collected benefit our community directly. I can’t think of a better reason than that!”

Aileen: “The REALTORS®4Kids Charity Auction is a wonderful fun-filled evening of mingling, delicious food, cash bar, music, entertainment, a festive feel, fabulous items for purchase, and just a really great time! Perfect for an evening out all in support of a worthy cause.”

What is your favourite part about organizing a charity event with local REALTORS®?

Aileen: “My favourite part of organizing a charity event with local REALTORS® is the sense of unity it brings. It doesn’t matter at the end of the day who you are or what brokerage you work for, the common goal is raising money for the Children’s Fund. Working together to reach that common goal is what makes this committee and this event so magical.”

Brian: “As you know, the real estate industry has a very fast-paced environment. Working with my fellow REALTORS® in such a relaxed setting allows us to focus on raising funds that directly benefit local children.”

What auction item are you most excited about to bid on this year?

Brian: “The Costa Rica vacation package, of course! Who wouldn’t want to relax on a tropical beach, or zip-line through a rain forest while also taking in the local music and Latin cuisine?”

Aileen: “The most exciting auction item I would have to say is the trip to Costa Rica. I love travel and definitely have always wanted to travel to Costa Rica and experience all the wonderful eco-tours and beaches this place has to offer!”
